Veterans Ocean Therapy is a grassroots initiative run by members of the Palm Beach RSL Sub-Branch — just neighbours doing our bit to support fellow veterans and their families.
Launched in 2023, the program was created to offer a simple, meaningful way for veterans to reconnect — with the water, with their loved ones, and with a sense of calm — through free access to paddle craft on the beautiful Pittwater.
All kayaks, SUPs, and safety gear have been generously donated by the community, including the Palm Beach RSL Sub-Branch, Yellow Brick Road, and Vaikobi. There's no formal schedule or bookings. Just come down, complete a short orientation, and head out when it suits you.
No pressure. No sessions. Just paddling, purpose, and peace.
You’re welcome to bring along family members or friends. You are responslos
Getting started with Veterans Ocean Therapy is simple, free, and flexible. Here’s how it works:
Before using the paddle craft, you’ll need to complete a short Waiver of Liability. You only need to do this once per year, and you can fill it out online in just a few minutes.
→ Complete the Waiver Here
After submitting your waiver, a short, one-time orientation will be arranged. We’ll show you where the gear is, how to use it safely, and answer any questions. Once that’s done, you’re good to go.
Once you’ve completed the waiver and orientation, you’re welcome to use the kayaks and paddleboards whenever it suits you. There are no bookings, sessions, or rosters — just turn up, grab what you need, and get out on the water.
You’re welcome to bring along family members or friends. You are responsible for all guests and minors you bring.
Enjoy the water, take your time, and when you're finished, please rinse off the equipment and return it neatly to the shed so it's ready for the next person.
